MT SS-GS Q...?

Quick question for anyone who has migrated from Shared-Server to Grid-Service on MT.
It says it's free to do and you can choose GS hosting at the same price but then it goes on about pro-rated credits when swapping your hosting plan. Here's what it says:
"If you have a (ss) Shared-Server Pro, you will be able to select either the (gs) Grid-Service Lite at the same price, or a full (gs) Grid-Service. If you have a (ss) Advanced, you can get the full (gs) at no additional cost. A pro-rated credit will be applied to your account if your service has unused time that you have paid for. Once you complete this step you will immediately be able to proceed to step 3."
Does that mean they'll put the price of my unused SS hosting's remaining time towards the new GS hosting and I'll continue to pay the same monthly rate? Or will I end up being out of pocket buy an absolute fortune until this is all set up?
(I know, I could email them, but I'm impatient).

they sell you a new year-long plan when you transfer. So, if you have 6 months remaining on your SS plan, they will apply that amount as a credit toward your new 1 year GS plan.
Basically, instead of your plan renewing on its original date, it will renew a year from today.

Thanks heavyt!
I'll pass then, cashflow = drier than an Ethiopian riverbed.

you can pay month to month if you want, it's just cheaper to pre-pay a year.

Is there any reason I shouldn't do this? Does it really matter to me if all I want is basic hosting?

if you're just going to continue hosting your portfolio as-is, i see no real reason to switch. no offense meant here, but it's a static site and i can't imagine you get tons of traffic that would require the distributed goodness of the grid. the old ss has been a bit more stable than the grid anyway.

you don't need the grid.
don't do it. I am on my SS still, and staying there.

Sounds good to me. It ain't broke. I'm not fixing it. I'm staying in bed. Goodnight, and thanks!
