Just found this really useful looking application in OSX called Automator which allows you to record any process with your Mac and automate it.
I have no idea what I could use it for - anyone here ever use it?

I want to but I can never get it to work.

I've used it for batch resizing images before. I also tried to sort images by orientation with it, but I never got it working.
Seems like it could be pretty cool, but I found it confusing.

very useful for renaming files sequentially.
- graphicconverter is much better at this. (for any, not only graphic files)invisiblechamber

if you can wrap your head around applescript, the possibilities are endless

i've found adobe bridge (if you have it) is much easier for batch automation and file renaming tasks. tried the automator thing but never got it to work like i wanted.

You can use it to make a right click item in finder that lets you do search and replace in filenames, or make files sequentially named, or convert a load of psds to jpeg
fucking awesome

on this note, I had, somwething ages ago that i think was written in apple script, which automatically created a folder with todays date in your 'downloads' directory. So anything downloaded through Safari (or any browser) that appeared in there would automatically go into the folder for the day.
Anyway, know anything similar?
