More drilling is an expensive "drop in the bucket"...
http://www.architecture2030.org/…
It only makes Big Oil richer and Americans poorer.

- you shut up!
Offshore drilling is going to cure all of the US's economic ills! ALL OF THEM!flashbender

yeah, but what about all that oil in alaska that Palin promises?
- no good. it's frozen.7point34

Alternative energy seems like a good idea.
Outside the box energy ideas....
Offshore drilling only if its safe and harmless....
dunno, really...
- jjoeth60
For one thing, Palin doesn't even know how much of America's energy Alaska produces right now. She keeps saying 20%, when it's really more like 3%.
- jjoeth60
Big Oil just keeps pushing this mindset on everyone that we NEED to produce more oil. We don't. The technology exists today for clean, renewable energy.
- it may exist but can we immediately all switch over to it, is it realistic cost-wise?planet01
- When they adjust tax incentives help out renewables instead of big oil, it will be cost-effective.jjoeth6
- We need to keep pushing that demand to prioritize getting off fossil fuels.jjoeth6
- The more demand there is, the easier and cheaper it will be. Plus, things like solar panels pay for themselves after a few years.jjoeth6

I thought the phrase "Drill Baby Drill" was referring to Palin's young slutty daughter.
- LOLjjoeth6
- that's what her daughter thought too.grunttt
- This statement irks me.Jaline
- You guys are pretty harsh with your terms when referencing other people. Maybe that's why I hate political threads.Jaline
- damn it... i have such a good joke, but i like jaline too much.grunttt
- Go ahead. If I really don't like it I don't have to read this note :)Jaline
- i won't. end of story.grunttt
- Now I feel bad. This is like the relationship between men and women, I can tell. I'm not sure which one I am though...Jaline

If we go for more offshore drilling, we're adding a couple percentage points to overall world oil production. That oil would go onto the world market, and it wouldn't go to the people of America. There is no American oil market...
Adding that kind of minimal amount of oil isn't going to impact the market enough to help us with gas prices. It will give the oil companies some more profit, though.

The only American's who will benefit will be the stock holders of oil companies. The rest will of us subsidize: Exxon, Texaco, Chevron, etc... (aka) corporate welfare. Another Republican led campaign to serve its wealthy, greedy and narrow minded party, period!
- inhaler970
so if the oil companies start going under, is america going to rescue them?
- todd4440
no. they will have to make their money on batteries for the new battery powered cars... check these out.
