this is a bit off topic, but you might check out this guy's work. He's working for Maison Martin Margiela and he does some real nice photography; unfortunately the photos he posted this week on
his myspace are a bit boring, but I'm sure he'll add some
better work in the next few days...

good points!
I do use a medium format Hasselblad.

You should definitely agree usage. If they want you to use it for a billboard campaign - state your rate for shooting and a different one for the rights to use the image and the territory. If you think it's to be used in your country - agree on that so that if they want to use it for anything else you get paid additional. i. e you own the rights to the image except for the usage you have agreed up front.

futuremongolian... hmmm which advice can I give you then...
I as example would never book a photographer for a fashion shoot who doesn´t work with a medium format camera... you have a portfolio? it also depends on the quality... & for fashion you need to know very many things..

if you're fluent in french you can add 20% to your bills

I don't know how much the models are being payed.
- moamoa0
but thats an important thing.... how much they spend on models? you know that? I mean for that day

I'm shooting with all my own stuff, about 10k worth of equipment, so I'm not a heavy hitter. They are a smaller, but international company and the it will be a one day shoot.
Not sure about the rights, but they seem very flexible/
