Awesome Awesome Orb.
I wish someone would make a really edgy, really dark, really adult Doctor Who movie on a really pre-apocalyptic tip, and drop all the kiddy bollocks, and make it genuinely bleak and dark and scary, and have The Orb do the soundtrack.
That would get me in the cinema.
None of this "Russell T Wonderful" nonsense.
Off topic I know, but did anyone out there ever watch that 1980's drama series they made of The Quatermass Experiment? It was just called "Quatermass" and was set in a post apocalyptic 1980's where something stranbge and sci-fi like had gone wrong causing civilisation to collapse? it was fantastic.

You should get En-Tact album - very little MrC singing (only in move any mountain and minimally elsewhere). Its easy on par with orbital / the orb / klf / sabres of paradise etc.
In Gorbachev we trust is a great album too ...
heres some from that album .....Jesus Loves Amerika
love the lyrics "jesus loves america - but i dont love either"
and WAR PRAYER
the whole theme of the in gorbachev we trust album is so fitting to todays political climate - with another possible cold war on the horizon and with america being war crazy and spreading their power across the world.
the song war prayers lyrics make me think of hypocritical christian americans invading iraq for some reason - wonder why?!
Oh lord our God
Help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells
Help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of the dead
Help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of the wounded
Writhing in painA prayer for war, a prayer for war
A prayer for war, a prayer for warOh lord our God
Help us to waste their humble homes in a hurricane of fire
Help us to wring the unoffending hearts of their widows with grief
Help us to turn them out with their children to wander the waste
Of their desolated landA prayer for war, a prayer for war
A prayer for war, a prayer for warWe beseech thee o worthy lord
Blast their hopes and black the lines on their bitter pilgrimage
Make heavy their steps and water their way with tears my Lord
Stain the white snow with the blood of the woundeds' feet my Lord
And we ask it in the spirit of war

have never seen Quatermass but have heard of it.
ground breaking bbc number wasnt it?i think ive seen them raving about it on some documentary about uk science fiction - prob around the time when there was a lot of PR for the new series' of doctor who.
a dark soundtrack can definitely make for great cinema
have you seen the documentary/film "Dark Days" with soundtrack from DJ Shadow.
A lot of tv programs and adverts these days use shadows stuff to add some grit/darkness but that dark days film is the best the music has been used- I've just been trying to find it online. It seems they made another thing in 2005, but its the 1980's one that I love.SkyPoo

the manual is a quality read.
i've got his book "45" but only read the first couple of chapters (im not a reader and easily tire of a book)
also got the photo-book of them burning a millionim a BIIIIIG fan of the KLF and always have been.
love how they played with the media and took the piss out of "the establishment". thats something that somebody desperately needs to do right now!!!! especially with the likes of Banksy and Damien Hirst commanding stupid amounts of money for fuck all.I did my dissertation at art college about the creative exploits of the KLFand the way they kicked against the system and mocked the establishment. unfortunately, the title i chose and some of the content didnt go down too well with "the establishment" who were marking my dissertation.
While discussing "mocking/fighting against the establishment" i used examples of me doing as such and managing to wangle out of going to art history lectures and life drawing classes - argueing it was NO RELEVANCE to what i wanted to do as a career and my time would be better spent in the computer suite. So it was a kind of "fuck off" to the lecturers and art history folk (the folk marking the dissertation). I also questioned why we did dissertations etc.Around the time i was doing my dissertation the KLF had had a single out called "fuck the millennium".
So i called my dissertation FUCK THE DISSERTATION
was nicely printed and book bound and in a black card sleeve that had the words (in true KLF stylee - BIG BOLD SANS) ....
FUCK THE DISSERTATION on the cover.
I got a 2:1 for my hons degree - it was my dissertation result that brought me down from a first i reckon.
something i am quite proud of though.
FUCK THE ESTABLISHMENT!!!! lol- i didn't know banksy could actually be paid? where do you buy his stuff?airey

when you see the lyrics like that they might seem pompous
but in context of the album and when you hear the style of the song (almost pisstake choir-like) you'll realise its in jest but also voicing disgust at war.

nah i never saw the blog.
damn - where was he? glasgow or edinburgh? fuck i sooo wouldve went. he's a biiig hero of mine - think id have been starstruck haha.his promo stuff is deliberate, he knows he's taking the piss by doing that kinda stuff, and he's mocking the students who read further into his stuff. my take on the guy is that he's just a real person, like some funny guy youd meet down at your local - constant sceptic and can see the funny and twisted side of things and rather than complaining about it , he rips the piss out of them in a high brow manner.

^ Yeah that's what I was trying to get at, he can home in on people's raw nerves and play them like a fiddle if he wants to.
Did you ever listen to that phone line they set up after burning the millions quids? They got their mate (something like Ratty or Moley) to record this really irritating long message, and anybody interested in hearing about why they burned the million quid could call it. Its rumoured that they made back their million quid within 18 months by this sort of thing: the pre-recorded message ambled on and on for fucking hours and it was on a premium rate... not so much that you'd feel like you'd been shanked, but enough to earn them some decent cash back. I listened to about forty minutes of it and the guy never got round to actually saying owt about the burning of the million.
- but why did he burn all that money? It could've gone tp something useful, like schools or pensioners orNairn
- ...keeping immigrants out, or setting up a Diana anti-landmine fundNairn
- HFS. The KLF murdered Diana! It's all so clear now - FUCKING COMMUNISTS!Nairn
- From what I heard they actually planned to ressurect her afterwards but it went wrong. = (SkyPoo
- they burnt a million but 2 million appeared in their bank the next day. it was a sponsored stunt23kon
