its a shame that he followed in blairs footsteps and has basically had to deal with all the shit left for him.
if he'd started from a clean slate then he probably would have made a good prime minister
- and the english media just hate him cos he's scottish23kon
- The English media hate him because he is a moron, scottish or not.thebottlerocket

THE FUCKING SCOTTISH SHOULD NOT BE RUNNING WESTMINSTER. YOU ALL VOTED FOR YOUR OWN PARLIAMENT. FOR THAT REASON HE CAN SCREW HIMSELF, AND A LOT OF PEOPLE I SPEAK TO THINK THE SAME.
Sorry about the caps, but the Scottish nationalists ruined it.
- hahaha, writhe in your own boiling poison, you arse.Nairn

You completely misunderstand the spirit of regional devolution, kezza. Back when the Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish assemblies were being mooted, there as also talk of a Northern Assembly (to represent Northern England), and further regional representation. It was all about local representation, a logical pattern made possible under the EU legislature.
If the English had a viable non-Tory alternative to Labour (poor LibDems) I can assure you that the English would have voted for the 'English National Party' just as much as the Scots have done for their equivalent.
Most SNP voters, from what I understand, are merely fed up with Labour and simpy won't vote Conservative.
But hey, if you want to shit on 300 years of union sovereignty with your weird paranoia - go right ahead and boil you own head.

There are much worse things in Westminster than the scots in the house of commons, principally, the House of Lords, an UNELECTED upper house. That is a democratic travesty that far outweighs devolution in Scotland and Wales.

I just think its bizzare the amount of scots as senior staff in the UK government and cabinet. Wouldn't mind if they were that good but...
Not to mention Scots managing football clubs. What is it with you lot? Bossy bunch aren't you?
Only kidding really, I have scottish friends (hahaha burp)
- Never noticed this scottish invasion myself. I just thought all senior staff has to paint half their face blue.thebottlerocket
- don't forget the coloured people too!max_prophet
- was just about to say, too many blacks in the police these days don't you think kezza, don't they have their own forces back home?skt

Well, he basically just told all the Northern Ireland assembly fucktards (mostly creationists, homophobes, terrorists and racists) that they have to transfer policing powers and complete devolution...
I'm not sure I've gained any respect for the man but his speech surprisingly blunt... It was good to see them squirm...

I have read this thread with interest and have nothing to add of any value.
I do however, enjoy it when folks refer to the Scottish as 'Scotch' people. Sadly this practise has been it has been decline since the eighties.
I'd like to table a motion that we adopt that terminology for future discussions of this nature, in the hope that we can breath sone life back into old malapropisms.

you're welcome to him, to be honest. Used to be a great guy before the New Labour thing drilled into him. You should watch some of his part conference speeches during the thatcher years. Still, its far easier being in opposition I suppose; I mean ask Dave in 4 years time, or any one of the hundreds of thousands wanting him out after they realise he can affect no change whatsoever.
He should have had the balls to come out anbd change direction when he was getting rave reviews early on, but he bottled it. Probably knew what was coming financially. Shouldn't be taking so much of the blame for this though it is partly his fault.
Really is getting a disproportionately rough time on account of being a scot too, read any major newspapers blog comments (try a bit of andy murray related blog nonsense while you're at it - never read such bollocks as people trying to claim they don't like him cos he needs a haircut. same thing).

Criticise him for being bad at his job, but don't slag him off for being Scottish. If he were black you wouldn't dare say he's shit because of the colour of his skin, so don't make it about his nationality, it's called Xenophobic and illegal. I know a shit load of useless English people, but I'd not be naive enough to think it was the country they came from that was the reason for their 'shitness'.
