I lived in Germany as a kid from 1980-84. In a town called Bielefeld. I had the worst commute to school though. Took an hour and a half every day there and back to Gutersloh. Which was a school for several thousand kids on an RAF base. So you could be doing lessons watching Harriers take off outside your windows. Anyway just saying I have fond memories of Germany. It's a country I like.
