Skip Paris, get a car and drive down to the south of France, the road are great compared to the crap you get in the UK, and the south of France is stunning, plus you have Monaco to check out.
- If you've never been to Paris, don't skip itbabaganush
- dont go to monaco its a dump. but maybe you need to see it for yourself. but then you'll wish you hadn't botheredhans_glib
- actually don't get a car
go by train
paris 2hrs from londonhans_glib - marseille 3 hours from parishans_glib
- the train is really expensive cos I havent really planned very far in advanceblackspade
- Well if you coming into france from the UK you can check out both.********

if you're going to drive take the autoroute through the auvergne. it's a beautiful road (takes longer though) and you get to drive over that new super high norman foster bridge
- Yep, that it just something to remember driving over that bridge.********

I've been to Paris loads of times and I really don't like it. We're not into the crappy accomodation (unless you pay a fortune) and over-priced food and genral vibe of the place.
Myself and the girlfriend had one of our best holidays ever a few years back walking and camping along the canal du midi in the south of France. There is something special about looking out over the vineyard that grew the grapes for the wine you are drinking......
Also the people are way nicer down there. Places like Carcassone are probably worth stopping at too for the tourist vibes.
We also walked and camped in the pyrenees which was also amazing.
probably too much for a 4 day holiday though :)
- sweet def worth noting tho, since its our first visit we still need to tick Paris off the list, but hte south sounds amaazing thanks for this!blackspade

paris check out the architecture expo park - think its in the north or paris. worth a ride on the train. science museum is there too.
what about champagne region?
theres the perfume making near the south east
endless chateaux to visit
monaco/monte carlo - hire a car and cruise around the coast ogling rich and famous peoples massive houses in their HIGH security homes.

why would people want to go to marseille?
seriously, why???
- janne760
i'd go to south of france, provence.. old roman settlements, mont ventoux, vineyards etc. etc.
