When did people start thinking we need government for anything above defense, and arbitration? Being in advertising I can only say its branding and differentiation on the campaign trail. What can a candidate offer for a vote or position. If these guys did there jobs no one would care, because it would mostly not effect anyone. What effects people are their own agendas for campaigning. The majority always take the bait too. One brand over another. Ancient tribalism. The parties and team brand. Advertising and media while helping drive progress and prosperity is a double edged sword. There is a difference between capitalism and consumerism. Capitalism is a philosophy of mutual benefit. A way to create a symbiotic relationship between people that give them the best value for effort. Consumerism is a different beast and something advertising and media has been help shaping. To me its more of a belief structure in that the most successful campaigns are targeted emotionally. Humans are just beasts that mostly react on physical and emotional stimuli, maybe a 5-10% will focus more on logic and the things that have carried are species to where it is. Now we think we must all be gifted and awesome and somehow more intelligent than 2000 years ago. ... But consumerism is the devil. Consumerism the pursuit of desire to make a bonfire as big as possible with no regard to fuel. The way it might shape our beliefs and everyday thought form a clothing brand to political brand. I wear hillary because it portrays X and Y which society defines by perspective to be awesome.... or Trump because it means Z. Government has become a brand selling people things they don't even know they had a desire for. IE social security. No strong desire until sold by politicians for differentiation and larger plan of making them more important and prominent in your life. Adobe CC anyone.

And part of consumerism is big data. The rise of social media and using all that data to sell you shit. It wants you to use it so it only feeds you stuff you want. That online targeted reality creates a problem with reality as it is. That not everything is there to please u. Creating a desire of american otaku safe spaces and anything that is tough. Its completely making people forget what life is. Ups and downs. And taking away all conditioning that makes people better for weathering such realities of ups and downs.

I think what im drunkenly typing is that people confused adam smith capitalism as the solid good thing and replaced it with consumerism. We have become such consumers we cant even tell most of the time when we are being puppeted to consume. Has anyone wondered why a old school religious revival is todays apple "event". Why religion is in a downfall but a rise in brands that have learned the same methods. Religion was the first and most strongest brand strategy, and still being implemented these days but evolved.

Ok now im drunk. Its my rant hating the what i STRONGLY say as all retarded garbage sharing... shit i should have touched on not only have media and co. done is but turn ordinary people into there pawns in selling shit....ppl share shit without intent or understanding... a vacuum that needs to be filled...

Its so much easier to copy and paste opinions than actually trying to craft them and realizing you suck an expressing complex ideas

    • "Drunks and babies don't lie" - Jesusrobotron3k

The irony is palpable! So much for high being an "outsider" and caring for America. One of the first moves is to remove regulations on Wall Street, giving them the power to take all the risks that brought the financial collapse.

On a good note, maybe we'll have another huge bubble and I can sell higher! At least Goldman's is up after years of stagnation.

Sad that so many were so easily conned into believe his bs.
