I am trying to mount a Laptop with my imac, the Imac has a slightly newer OS and I have to start with the T button down because it won't mount itself..
Any ideas?

yea turning your laptop into a firewire drive is the only way i do here at my studio if i need to pull a file off of it or just log into ichat and run bonjour to file transfer

What models do you have? You should be able to just mount your laptop in Target Disk mode via firewire? What versions of OSX?

You can also use a Firewire cable and turn on Firewire as an active service in System Preferences > Network (Make sure you set Firewire as top-most service in the list)... and then connect using Apple File Sharing (Go > Connect to Server)
