His speech was OK. It was a good re-introduction to what he is about but did not give any clear concrete ways to dealing with the issues.
Can't wait for the debates.

^ Going to have minimal effect on our lives? Yikes.

I felt like there were a lot of quotes that will go down in history.

i liked the..
"McCain said he would chase Bin Laden to hell...he wont even go to his cave" quote...Hilarious...made me laugh out loud.

i would like to see government move toward a more localized scheme. Each community having more of a say in how they are shaped, what they want things to be like. Having the burden of funding and law making be more squarely on the shoulders of those who it would effect directly, and leaving only the things that local communities couldn't handle, or things that need to be enacted on a sate or federal scale, to the state and federal govt
- Wow, that's a whole lotta BS for so early in the afternoonlocustsloth
- i may be wrong, but I believe Ron Paul had ideas like this.?.sintaxera
- and it makes alot of sensesintaxera
- It's not really an "idea". It's written down in this thing we like to call the Constitution.moural

Kudos to him and everyone else who wrote parts of his speech.
The debates will be interesting.

Ha! He said everything you guys wanted to hear, huh? You sound like a living room full of preteens who just saw their favorite boy band on TRL. lol Mussolini promised a third way too. Roosevelt's New Deal, in retrospect, may have prolonged the Depression and hurt minorities.
I'm not saying that Obama's the same as the aforementioned politicians, or that you guys are dumb. It's just that skepticism is a great asset in life, particularly when it comes to charismatic charlatans who are making the same unsubstantiated claims that were offered up to a willing audience not so long ago.

Bottom line is this. If you vote for McCain you're either 1 of 2 things...
1) A complete uniformed moron who doesn't really know the issues and what's going on.
or
2) You only care about money and yourself...you don't care about your kids and their future or this country and it's future.
BOTTOM LINE, END OF STORY. If you genuinely think McCain is better then you're one of those 2 things...DONE.
- I think you're a closet conservative.Jaline
- ...the way things are so cut and dry.Jaline
- (I'm talking more about open-mindedness)Jaline
- I'm with you, JackDr_Rand
- Pulling punches is how the Dem's got here in the first place. NO MORE PULLING PUNCHES!!!Lt_Jack_Hammer
- (I do agree with you about how no one should vote for McCain, but saying "bottom line" is obnoxious)Jaline

"It's pretty sad when the worst thing you can say about your opponent is that he's too damn popular. Yet that's where McCain and his Republican handlers are right now, questioning whether someone who actually can fill a football stadium full of enthusiastic activists is worthy of the presidency. Far better to limit your audiences to a few dozen loyalists who can tolerate watching your cottage-cheese pallor swimming in a sea of green.
The worst part of the tut-tutting about Obama's resonance with the voters is that Barack isn't even that good at the rock star thing. He's really just an earnest, hard-working, wonky guy from Chicago who happens to be a really good speaker, and who moved his big speech to a big venue because a big number of people want to watch. You want theater? You want a sense of larger than life drama? You want true messianic celebrity?
John McCain's pal George Bush showed us how it's done."
- He quoted this from somewhere else. It's just a counter argument.Jaline
- this is a cut and paste--do you think I'm gonna take the time to write stuff to convince people I don't agree with?Dr_Rand
- I can't imagine a bigger waste of timeDr_Rand
- It makes sense though, and I don't see much anger in it.Jaline

I really don't quite get why everyone is so hot on Obama. I don't get why other people are hot on McCain. The only thing I'm happy about is that regardless of who is our next president is ... they aren't going to sound like a complete moron when they give speeches.
Hooray to (at least) 4 years of an educated sounding chieftain!!!

^ that's not narrow minded at all
- And half of the stuff Republicans spew is 10x worse. It has to be simple and clear for the morons on this country to understand.Lt_Jack_Hammer
- ...understand. This is too important to be a pussy Democrat about.Lt_Jack_Hammer
- Nice "You're either with us or against us" philosophy.flashbender
- So that hasn't been a tactic of the Retardican's for the last 8+ years? The old divide and conquer method.Lt_Jack_Hammer
- you keep referring to your argument in terms of the republicans... doesn't that present a problem for you?flashbender

I thought it was great! He said exactly what needed to be said and he did it beautifully. He came swinging against McSame. Karl Rove must be in his dark dungeon trying to figure out how counter this speech.
It's going to be tough.
