Hello, wanted to get some feedback on an image bookmarking site I made: http://imgfave.com
Just something I whipped up in a weekend using some open source software (obviously heavily inspired by ffffound). My plan is to keep it simple and to keep the focus on design / art / good photography.
Would love to get some feedback from the qbn community.

i like simple. i would style/color the various links a bit. they all share the same color, so it's hard to see a hierarchy in there.
also- use mod_rewrite to get rid of all that ugly ?action= stuff in your urls

Having some real trouble using your bookmarklet. I ran into timeout errors and some sites straight up just didn't work at all.
- tenpointtwo: Let me know which sites were you trying to bookmark from and I'll look into whats going on. Might have just timed out because I'm getting a ton of traffic from reddit right now...gragland

got this error when posting:
This page contains the following errors:
error on line 2 at column 1: Extra content at the end of the document... but i jumped back to the home page and it appears to have worked anyway.

acescence: Weird, never seen that before. I'll definately look into that. Things may be acting a bit strange because I'm getting a lot of traffic from reddit right now... I'm added caching right now so the site doesn't have to make so many database queries.

from a design stand point: I like the simplistcity but I do feel that when I scroll down (i.e lose the header) it is too similar to ffffound in terms of the image size and colouring of the text/links.

can I get an invite?

I get the following error nearly every time:
XML Parsing Error: junk after document element
Location: http://imgfave.com/index.php?act…
Line Number 2, Column 1:<strong>Fatal error</strong>: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in <strong>/home/gragland/public_html/imgfa...</strong> on line <strong>92</strong><br />I haven't gotten it to work even once. Good luck!
- I lied- the imgs I faved went through despite the error messagetenpointtwo
- ok, probably just timing out because there is a lot of load on the server. will keep an eye on that tho.gragland

I would like to see a grid/thumbnail view option. I agree it looks too similar to ffffound. The different fonts bug me, why not make it uniform throughout? Definitely a decent start
- I'm dumb, I missed the thumbnail view button.tenpointtwo

tenpointtwo: there is a grid option, the link is to the right of the main nav. thanks for the feedback!

doesn't seem to work here
what am I doing wrong
click on the bookmarklet the the image and I see nothing happening and on the account section no image added...
- ESKEMA0
*bump. is it a safari 3 problem? or is it just me?
- gragland0
Eskema: Works fine in Safari for me. One quirk of the bookmarklet is that the cursor has to be off the image until the red border is loaded. Then when you mousover the image you should see a red box that says "add to imgfave".
- ESKEMA0
hmm.
doesn't seem to work on every image.. only some. why?
- gragland0
eskema: can you email me at and let me know which images you can't bookmark? I'll see what the issue is. Thanks!
- gragland0
Dancer: Yeah, I tried a bunch of different layouts, but in the end I just liked the ffffound style layout the best. In the near future I'm going to be proving some different view modes besides list/thumbs that should make it a bit more unique.

It looks okay, but too similar to ffffound for my liking. It seems to lack creativity and originality, which I think is very important if the site is to be successful.
- gragland0
iliketocreate: Thanks for the feedback! I agree the design is not extremely creative (it's very minimal). Right now I'm mostly focused on building a very easy to use tool for keeping track of images you find online and making it easy for friends and others to follow what your bookmarking. Hopefully the kind of community that forms and the content they bookmark will help steer design changes and new features decisions. So yes, if it becomes a design / art oriented community I'll probably get a bit more creative with the design.
