I'm finally at the thesis stage of my MFA in graphic design and the best I can come up with is: A visual interpretation of the process of creative thinking.
Slap me, then give me some real opinion please.

well there you go off the top of my head....
My proposal - No. 1
"Analogy, metaphor and idiom: a creative framework for contemporary political illustration?"
Using contemporary US political advertising as a frame of reference, this thesis will explore the evolution and application of linguistic mechanisms, processes and instruments in the visual practice of illustration.
The aim of this thesis is to understand the influence of cultural and linguistic context in contemporary illustration practice.
To achieve this aim the study includes a number of objectives:
An investigation of linguistic mechanisms in contemporary US political advertising
An examination of empirical evidence concerning the influence of linguistics on visual creativity
An investigation of the historical use of analogy, metaphor and idioms in graphic design and illustration
An elaboration on possible creative frameworks for future illustration practice
thank you and good night

i think you should map 'contemporary political illustration' against something else– so the aim of your study is both to understand the influence of cultural and linguistic context but also give yourself the graphic platform to create a meaningful and eye opening comparison.
and there is always porn.
