Looking to leave NYC and head to London for atleast 6 months. Alas, no trustfund... so any help where to find solid work (print) + where to live would be great.

don't you need any work visa ?

I thought you needed a residency visa to be there for more than 3 months and a work permit of some sort to do any work.

I believe you do need a work permit and will am working on that, but wanted to get some QBN input.

Takes a long f'n time to get a work permit.
and an almost equally long time to get a residency visa.
plan accordingly.
I had to apply twice for a HSMP work permit - took 7 months total before I got it.
Still waiting to hear about the residency visa - I applied for that June 20th.

Why are you leaving nyc out of curiousity

Thanks for the heads up.
As for leaving NYC, I've been here for 10 years and just want to get out and see the world for a bit again. Could have been anywhere...but it does help to speak the language if you have to make a living.

long ago i went to london with my portfolio with intentions to work... didn't go so well, not an easy city to crack.
it's is a city flooded with transient travellers, lots of foreigners coming and going, seems to piss off many londoners (understandably).
i found that employers don't take you seriously unless you sound like a brit over the phone... work on your accent would be my advice.

From my initial reconnaissance regarding employment it also matters what kind of work permit you have.
