Reading wikipedia on Russia's current president:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dmi…"Medvedev is a devoted fan of hard rock, listing Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin as his favorite bands. He is a collector of their original vinyl records and has previously said that he has collected all of the recordings of Deep Purple.[45][46] As a youth, he was making copies of their records, although these bands were then on the official state-issued blacklist.[47] In February 2008, Medvedev and Sergei Ivanov attended a Deep Purple concert in Moscow together."
He is also into weightlifting=) the president I want!

it was a shame to see how the country was raped and ruined by the mafia in the post-gorbatchev years. the putin administration improved everyday life for the russians like you wouldn´t believe. he´s popular with the russians for a reason.
- Yeah, plus he's "improved" that pesky free press!dog_opus
- 99% of the general population in Russian dont care about free speech as much as they care that there's food in the stores & jobs to be had. It's hard to understand if u live in the U.S.THA
- ...As long as Putin keeps Russia's economy going up & up, not many Russians will complain about him no matter how much of a fake democracy they have over there. He will remain popular.THA

people crave stability and meaning. The people of russia that had to endure that being taken away from them overnight wouldn't forget the pain too quickly.

when I was in moscow in '94 I was in a currency exchange and two young guys came in with a large briefcase. they proceeded to unpack stack after stack of one hundred dollar bills. I quickly looked away. this was during the dangerous period. not sure what it's like now.

don´t forget hyper-inflation, complete collapse of the economy, gross corruption, hunger. russia was on the brink of becoming a 3rd world country. it´s not about communism, but quality of life.

^ loyd: they had to change the rubels they made over the day into dollars, so that the money was still worth something the next morning. it was hyper-inflation.
- or they were laundering or counterfeiting it.Llyod
- probably. why were you visiting, btw?********

American perspective on war:
Russian reporter makes a comparison to the US reaction to 911 and afterwards bombings in Afghanistan, gets censored live
12 year Ossetian girl tells her story about Georgian invasion in Ossetia, interrupted by a timely commercial
