its making this gas leaking sound. This is the 3rd time i replaced this thing.
The area where the plug connects to the computer. It makes the gas leaking and very low squeaking sound.
Anyone else?

the mag safe adaptor or the older round one?

is it the connector or the bit inside the computer where it connects? (Its not the processor is it?... the noise going on and off idle that was on Powerbooks and early MBP)

its te mag safe and the noise is coming off from the connector area.

could be a power supply issue. any trouble when running on battery only?
i had a problem (no noise though) where the battery would not charge when connected to the adaptor. was a faulty audio controller, which is situated next to the power supply. try swapping out the adaptor if you have a friend with one and that will tell you if the problem in with the laptop, or the adaptor.

no problem with battery alone. The thing is that i changed my laptop and changed power cord but i am still getting the same noise

is it connected to speakers? could be some weird feedback loop going on
- ribit0
which bits did you change? the whole power adapter? If so its got to be the computer?

its not speaker, the sound is coming from where the connector meets the computer.
and i changed the whole power adapter 3 times. and computer twice

My MacBook's power adapter makes weird scratching noises when charging, I read that was normal.

probably just the hard drive spinning. i wouldn't worry.

no its not HD spinning, i made every attempt to isolate the sound source.
rafalski, do you know where you heard that?
the genius wont admit it but some how willing to replace it for me everytime.
"do you hear that sound?"
"no"
"put your head right beside the mag safe connector"
"no"
"do you know whats wrong with it?"
"no"
"can i get it replace"
"yes"

It's coming right from the power adapter, but only when it's charging, not when the battery's full. I will have to check with the newer macbook I have at home.
It is something to drive you paranoid, isn't it? :)
