Don't use Clarendon for text if this is a full-on book. It's hard to read. I'd recommend Century Schoolbook instead, or perhaps Caledonia.

I should have mentioned Im designing a brochure and Im more less going to use gravur throughout the whole piece (headline & body copy)
I was thinking I could use claredon (or maybe Rotis SemiSans) to kinda break it up.ya? nay?

Don't like it..How about a slab serif instead of a straight up serif?
- any suggestions? Im not too familiar with slabsimnotadesigner

I'd be a bit concerned about using Gravur for body copy, but then I'm just not a fan of that particular typeface. I find the default word spacing for Gravur to be too wide.
- This is true... but I won't have much body copy hopefullyimnotadesigner

How about Bauer Bodoni? The bold weights would look nice for your numbers.

Sounds like you're trying to hard. If it looks like it's "been done before" shouldn't deter you. It hasn't been done before by YOU. The uniqueness will come from that, not found in the typefaces you choose.

Good designers use good typefaces. Great designers use good typography.
Dunno who said that, but it's worth carving in granite. Set in Trajan, of course. ;)

I totally get what your trying to say... I said that because Im using Bodoni on this website Im working on, and I LOVE the typeface, but I just want to use something other than the norm.
