looks nice. the featured work on the homepage look like banner ads though.
In the portfolio, you should let people click on the thumbnails aswell as going next and back

just an offhand comment..
but i dont really care that your website has no tables..

^ true, nobody cares about how you build it. take a car for example, I could care less if they use metric or standard tools to build it, as long as it runs well.
Too often designers and developers try to design for other designers, they get caught up in the tools. art and design are more then the tools you use, anyone with enough time can figure out the tools and this kind of stuff means nothing to potential employers.
The tools dont matter. Photoshop doesnt matter. Illustrator and flash dont matter. html and php dont matter. what matter are the ideas and if the work and accomplish the problem at hand.
If it works well and the concept is clear and strong, it doesnt matter how it was built.

small cropped squares of work are a pet hate of mine
they are very misleading
something might look really interesting in that little square but then when you click to see more you are let down in the page about that piece of work - obviously a nice crop has been used for the square.
(not talking about your work here - just in general when people use tight cropped snippets like that).Personally id like to see final work on the first page so i can judge to see if its interesting or good work before i click to see more.
Advantages: people have to click around all the boxes to see all your work
Disadvantages: the person by chance might click on 2 pieces of your worst work to see more, are dissapointed then leave (without ever having seen your better stuff).
Another disadvantage is that people wont have the time to hang around and look at everything in that way too

to be honest i think it's all a bit crowded. your work is drowning in all that text and borders etc. free it up a bit would be my advice!
