i have to learn one of those nice things to develop my own apps!
what do you think is the most comfortable framework to develop web appliactions, regarding to learning-curve, compatibility, support, complexity...
php-cake sounds good to me...ruby is the most famous one (but it needs a special webhosting service, ehm i right?)

Ruby is a language, Rails is the framework, works better on dedicated hosting. Dreamhost has started using something to make it work better on shared hosting no idea how successful that is.
CakePHP is pretty close to Ruby on Rails but without the niceness of Ruby. Code Igniter seemed a little bare bones to me, didn't have real scaffolding at the time of me using it... just an admin panel claiming to be scaffolding.
Wrote my portfolio (http://neuemodern.com/) in Cake, went very smoothly once I had got back in to horrible PHP
