Looks cool, but how is this better than a bike rack? It certainly looks more expensive to produce?

communal bikes would never work in the US. we're too big a bunch of crooks

it may have originated in japan, but springtime definitely refined the concept. looks like each housing unit can store 50-100 bikes, which appears to be much more compact and sexier than the "bike factory" in the video above.

I think Amsterdam's 'Junkie Bikes' is a better idea.
