i think she has classic borderline personality disorder myself from what I know...and they tend to attract people like my friend who generally have low self esteem but willing to do anything to please someone...

definitely try to reassure him that things will improve in the long run.
a friend of mine had a psychotic breakdown and was hospitalized. during his time in the hospital his girlfriend revealed to him that she had been cheating on him with some guy she met on the internet. it took a long time for him to get over the entire ordeal, but now he's doing really well and grateful didn't do anything brash. it's important to be there for him.

He needs to get HER family and friends involved. She is obviously a danger to herself and others but he can't be expected to carry that burden for the rest of his life or live in fear of her going off on him. She obviously needs help but he shouldn't be the only one holding the bag.
- Actually at this point I don;t think he needs to do anything other than keep himself saneTheBlueOne
- Yeah...but he can't just leave her in the hospital...he needs to pass the responsibility along if things are over between them...ukit
- what if no one comes along? he can't stay there forever.Jaline

He needs to accept that they're her issues, not his and there's probably nothing he can do about it except talk to her or try to be some sort of role model. In the end, her actions are her own fault not someone else's you know.

one offering i can throw in would be to not let him go towards the same crutches to deal with his pain, as she clearly was for hers.
best of wishes to your friend.

I think, he prob loves her unconditionally and she knows it. no matter what wrong she does, he has stood by her as person should with their spouse.
this may have caused her go else where for drive that fulfill her need to have some kind of situation.
indeed, she has mental issue but not serious enough. I have had girls who tried to run me over, chase me with knife, suffocate me while sleeping, choke me while driving, suicide attempt etc. but it all comes down to what your friend needs to do. involving her family would be good idea and i dont see it as passing the buck.
your friend needs to think about where he wants to be and how she fits in to her life. it may seem heartless but he needs to move on.
- have had girls who tried to run me over, chase me with knife, suffocate me while sleeping" WHAT!!!rson

i say have a nightly talk with your friend. just keep him sane. being alone when in crisis is the worst thing that can happen. make up excuses to hang out with just talk on phone.

I'd say just be there for your friend. But what do I know?

Time to think about a divorce.
It's one thing if she's got an addiction problem, but it's another if she's having an affair on top of it.

dinky, I would like to pitch a reality tv show centered around you and your girlfriends

"choke me while driving" Not another one of those!
- MrDinky0
rand someone already tried.
they thought that the story was too convoluted and un-relatable to viewers.
they thought that protagonist who tends to sit at home in front of computer was not interesting. also there was lack of character development.
also they did not know if they should make this in to a comedy or tragedy.
- the protagonist as immobile boring guy surrounded by insanity--what's not to like?Dr_Rand
- MrDinky0
and their dogs were sexually abused in two cases and used in beastiality for three. no cats were involved.
and they thought that was too harsh
- fooler20
sounds like an excuse for a guys night out doing hookers and blow
- fooler20
...but seriously.
A friend of my wives was in a similar situatio except for it was the Husband that was a cheating dickhead.2 Years ago he "blew" through their $60k saving's account. He did so much blow he had to have nose reconstruction surgery. The wife stayed with him even know he was hiding it behind her back and almost bankrupt the family. After all that he now left the wife with 2 kids for a younger piece of tail.

Sorry to hear this, that is actually a really tragic situation. At least he's got you as a friend though - you should take him out for a couppla beers!

Poor guy – that's a shame. Just be there for him, I guess. Have a few drinks with him (if you guys drink). The bottom line, and hopefully he'll see it, is that he's obviously better off without the maniacal basket case. Sad.

Dude obviously didn't satisfy her sexual needs. That's obvious cos he seems to have acted like an emotional tampon for her. Why the hell would she want that? And why would he put up with her acting out like that for so long... and actually marry her?? Cos he "loved" her? Pleeeeeeeeeeze.
if you ask me... they're BOTH crazy.
He needs to STEP THE FUCK AWAY from this situation as quick as he can.
