Anybody had any experience with getting websites translated? Anybody know any good translators that specialize in this type of thing? What sort of money compared to the original website cost do you think is ok to charge?

i imagine they charge per word.

i guess it depends on the number of languages and the amount of content, as well as the backend of the site (dynamic/static).
avoid the big translation firms if possible, they deliver crap you wouldn´t believe.

we build the corporate site for a russian firm once (english/russian/german). the firm we comissioned for the translation (one of the "players") sourced the translation out to some idiot who just ran a computer program over the text and sent the stuff right back. they never checked it and we presented the material to the client. since then we only work with small firms and native speakers.
(you might also want to get your hand on a russian keyboard, typing is a pest with those online substitutes)
