What's a good raise for a designer 1 year in at an ad agency? looking for a rough percentage range, not a dollar amount. we'll say the designer is middleweight, definitely above average, good at what they do.

15%?? really?
shit i'm going for 25% easy if not 30%

Kind of depends if they hired you for nothing to begin with or if they were generous in the beginning.

Best raise I've had without a promotion is 10 percent. From what I've experienced, a cost of living raise is 3-5 percent, a "good raise" is 6-10 percent, and a raise with a promotion is a wider range- maybe 15-25 percent.
Am I way off?

That sounds about right.
- yeah, dave, you sound pretty close to what i'd expect. thanks!ifeltdave

I always ask for 15% and compromise for 10%. Makes the employer think they are getting the best of you. And if they give you 15% then ask if you can sleep with their wife. It never hurts to ask.
- When you say "always", you mean the one time you were ever in this spot, right...NONEIS

really??? fuck that then.
like i'm on an ok wage.. but i know for a fact i can get an extra 25% just by getting another job... which is bullshit cause i've been interviewing people to be my seniors with portfolio half as good an demaning 50% more than what i get.. at least.
fuck that...
- Ya know, 10% of a good wage, it;s not a bad deal. You cant expect more than 10%NONEIS
