i've literally been waiting for new apple displays for 2 years.
good luck in your quest.

I'm not sure why, but Apple monitors are clearly overpriced compared to everyone else. I got something like this 24
" Dell: http://www.tvsdepot.com/product.…for roughly what a 19" Apple monitor would have cost.

do u know where i can order them online? except for ebay. with worlwide shipping.

ne guy just told me that dell display sucks.... the colros are a bit wrong on them.
- i'm not a fan of them, though some people love emarthur
- The colours are fine, and you should really be hardware calibrating it anyway...kalkal
- that guy might be color blind or what. lol.akrokdesign
- Pretty sure they share the same exact LCD part, the gamma might be different...NONEIS

buy a refurb display from apple site - save at least 50%

if you want both to match get a mac. if you dont have, get the 24" dell ultrasharp. ofcourse, it also depends on what size you want.
buy a refurb is also an option.
good luck.
- *correction* if it dont need it to match, get the 24"....akrokdesign
- *cant spell todaaaay. lol.akrokdesign

this is a good site for monitors:
http://www.flatpanels.dk/panels.…
tells you what is on the inside, TN, IPS, PVA, etc.. a lot of manufacturers use the same panels. regarding dell, some do indeed suck, but some are good, it depends on the model. an 8-bit IPS panel is good for color accuracy, but different types have different pros and cons.

get the dell and get a huey from pantone for another $100 to calibrate it.
- like porsche seats on a civic you mean?Meeklo
- no, like a well calibrated monitor. apple does not supply special colors with theirs.johndiggity

^ I remember seeing that 3 years ago.
That, new displays soon. I would say August or September after all the "back to school" promotions Apple is currently offering.

Maybe you should get one now...or maybe wait...or get one...or wait cos maybe they'll release a new one...I'd wait for a new one...but then again, you might be waiting for years. I'd buy one...then again what if they announce a new one just after you buy one...but then again, that might not happen...

They will only release a new design at the main apple events, don't buy before them if you don't want the iMac incident again
- alicetheblue0
yeah I have been waiting for years :*(
heard something about HDTV compatable in the next one???
- senseg0
i think i will get imac 24. thoughts?

Mac displays have an artificially inflated price that fanboys like to focus on to create this high quality myth and high status symbol of Mac. The actual panel inside is made by Samsung and you could probably find a nice Samsung display for hundreds of dollars less. But hey, I guess it won't have that cool aluminum finish.

i don't think you'll see new acd's until LED displays come down in price. what other technology's out there?
also the dell's aren't all the same as apple's. the 24" dell's use s-pva panels inside. will you notice the difference? maybe not. but they aren't the same monitor.
- johndiggity0
actually, both apple and dell use lcds from lg/philips.
i'd recommend the del over the apple because:
a) it's cheaper
b) dell refreshes their display line much more often than apple
c) the dells have nice extras like card readers and inputs for all sorts of video- agree, but does dell have a fancy brushed aluminum apple logo on the back?
I think not._niko
- agree, but does dell have a fancy brushed aluminum apple logo on the back?

johndiggity, search that flatpanels site. the 24" dell uses a samsung s-pva panel. it always has. both apple and dell use the lg/philips panels for their 20" and 30" monitors.
