I always use times like this to start fresh. That means only copying over my portfolio, media (music, movies, etc), and a few folders from ~/Library/Application Support (which is where your Adobe CS swatches are, as well as Apple Pro loops, etc). Additionally, you might want to save your mailboxes (~/Library/Mail), Safari bookmarks (~/Library/Safari), and Quicktime plug-ins (~/Library/Quicktime and ~/Library/Internet Plugins).
- Basically, dump the Preferences folder but maybe save anything else in ~/Libraryismith

I added a few QuickView plugins, will have to make sure I keep these.

Oh, and do remember that depending on whether you installed 'For this user only' or 'For all users on this computer', your important bits could either be in your user Library (~/Library) or your drive library (./Library)

thanks ismith.. I think I'll keep the old drive as the main backup drive for some time, just in case I forget something
