“People who believe in the power of talent tend not to fulfill their potential because they’re so concerned with looking smart and not making mistakes. But people who believe that talent can be developed are the ones who really push, stretch, confront their own mistakes and learn from them.”

Exactly. People have a tendency to mystify talent as though it's this esoteric quality that people are "gifted" with at birth.
You know what i think talent is? Hard work * 100.
That's IT.
That's what i am, a hard working motha fucka - reprazent!!

Actualyl this brings to mind an anecdote of Tiger Woods i heard a few years back. After winning the US masters for the first time he didn't go out on the piss like some sports "stars".
He got up 6am the next day and was back on the training course. After winning the biggest tournament of his life. 6am the NEXT DAY.
*That's* talent.
I'm off to buy her book cos i'm all up in this self-help malarky.

Hard work is the *secret to success in life. Beyond doubt.
Worth noting is that most of us have the ability and wherewithal to do anything we want. Want to learn to play an instrument? Build a chair? Paint a portrait? Fix a car? Buy a book. Do some research. Get to work.
*Secret, like the secret to weight loss is diet and exercise.
