Im looking for a small remote hard disk type thing that can be plugged into my tv to play vids off the disk.
anyone got any cheap recommendations? ive seen an Iomega one (360gb) on offer for £77

One word of advice, what ever you do NEVER but a non branded hard disk just because its a few pounds cheaper, you will end up with a HD failure and cyclic redundancy errors.
So buy a good brand name HD (the Iomega is a good offer) I have two LaCie drives and I am very happy with them. So just get a quality drive.

LaCie doesn't make HD's ( at least they didn't use to), only the outer cases design and little pieces for firewire / usb sata connections.. so inside your LaCie is another generic brand
- yep, but the point is they use quality-assured product. usually. unlike dodgy-mcdodgy homebrand versions.airey

True, but the same goes for other top brands no only LaCie. If you open one of the top HD drive cases you will find a Seagate or Samsung or other know hard drive brand inside, where as if you buy a cheep external HD you might get a poorer brand of HD and thats when you might run into problems later on down the road.
