I'm a good butcher. You know how I became one? I was born with the ability. I know what cuts of meat are good and what cuts of meat aren't good. This cannot be taught. Thoughts?

design can be learned. i think the trick to it is to keep a very student like mentality and never consider yourself having reached an end point as a designer. No ones 'good', its far too subjective and visuals change context over time anyway, whats good now prob wasnt good then nor good down the line.

How about someone who trains under a master artist/skilled designer vs. under some random teacher that might suck, not know anything, or not even be artistic? There is a huge difference.

having Dutch or German ancestry can make you a good designer.
Also, I agree on wearing black turtlenecks, unfortunately, I have a beer-belly and a little be of man-boobs, so I only wear polo shirts- really baggy polo shirts because black sweaters make my man-boobs look bigger. So polo shirts with stripes, and usually the brands that I like for my polos are FUBU-WEAR. Everyone can tell I'm a designer right off the bat.

From what I've seen up to this point the percentages are about the same...about 70% of the "designers" out there are utter crap...they're mostly people who think that by using an Adobe product they're automatically a designer.
