I'm totally serious. In the not too far off future I'm going to buy a kickass muscle car and I want to be able to drive it as often as I can.

hi llyod. airbags they would laugh at. shoulder belts they wouldnt. how does illinois state law treat old cars when it comes to these things?
- mrdobolina0
you should see this 64 impala my friend randy has, it is all original and mint.

I think they'd laugh tho. A poorly designed seatbelt or airbag could be more detrimental than none at all.
no one would want the liability if something went wrong, and no one makes universal airbags...under what conditions when should it fire? where should the firing sensor be?
it would never happen iMo
- you could always get a 3 4 or 5 point harness system...ull be fine with thatMachuse

I'm not sure about Illinois...I'll be living in California

They would kick your arse. I wonder the same thing about getting a 68 Firebird converted to hybrid.
- convert it to burn bio dieselLlyod
- That would be easier...Mr100
- and then just hang around fried chicken joints to fill up.mrdobolina

that's the whole thrill of driving cars like that, no modern safety features.

yea man as a general rule you dont take a car like you presented and add airbags n such. You would be killing it....
Its like taking the most amazing print design you have ever seen and replacing the main font with brush script.
DONT NOT DO IT.
Good choice in car, hope you get it. :)

I hear you on the airbag but I'll have better seat belts than those backbreakers

I can't find any examples of retrofitting of airbags, apart from a scheme to supply them for some post-86 models. They are an integral part of the engineering development of the car, not something you just bolt on.

Nice choice of vehicle.

I rarely ever use seat belts in cars. I think about it after a few miles.

Definitely get the racing harness. Once you lure an unsuspecting lady into the passenger seat (if riding lap doesn't work out) you can offer to buckle them in.
