OK so you come up with an idea for a website that you think the world has been waiting for.
You are planning the site and about to start building it.
At the same time you are wondering how you can get it out there and announce it so that it starts off with a boom rather than people trickling in here and there.
Most of the site is user-populated, so like QBNs PV, Twitter etc. SO need to get people there pronto and populating before giving anyone enough time to rip the idea off n pump more money into marketing and it becoming bigger quicker.
Suggestions for grabbing the limelight?
Things so far would be stuff like
- viral video campaign something funny
- press releases in big mags/newspapers
- when someone signs up you can offer to grab their msn friends details (like facebook etc do)

call it fffound.
- 23kon0
- spam QBN boards like some people do with their blogs lol
(wouldnt do that)

Does it involve food or condiments for them? Or perhaps an answer to the energy needs of a growing world? Or can it find lost or missing socks?
Beyond that I'm not sure what the world is really waiting for...

make a QBN post about it?
- so far 8 replies so that could be 8 potential visits to site! :O23kon
- nothing like QBN to boost you in google tooflashbender

Is it something that the average joe would really care about?
You could advertise with a catchy campaign on traffic-heavy time-killer websites like perezhilton.com or something like it and get a lot of clicks through.

none of the above blue one.
i really cant say what it is because it is so simple and even the littlest clue would give away the whole thing.its an idea i thought of over a year ago and was dismissed for various reasons but recently ive revisited it and changed the model a lot into something that most people who use the internet would find useful although its mainly aimed at the 16-35 y/o market.

Its been well ripped into by myself and programmer and its tight likes.
Just got to plan out the site in detail then get building it.
Dont worry, it'll go out to QBN on launch ;)- I'll bide my time then...TheBlueOne

www.stumbleupon.com is quite good... it sent 2,000 people to my site in one day a couple of months back when someone 'stumbled it'
- They all ripped off your style. Now you're redundant.Spookytim

Relentless self-promotion works wonders.

talking to a buddy of mine just a sec ago...
his t-shirt website took off pretty quick - his reasoning is:
A.) good products
B.) contact the right 'blog' sitesHe didn't spam their sites... he just contacted them and introduced himself. :)

I've found the only way for these things to succeed is to sign an agreement with me where I get 40% of all the profits and you do 100% of the work. I know it sounds risky but the payoff will be worth it.
Trust me

See, this is where someone with Hedge's detailed business knowledge would be really helpful.
But no, you fuckers had to drive him off.

Speaking of yogurt - who the hell at that for the first time? Hey, here's some ily that's been sitting out for a few days... huh, look at that it is all chunky and semi-solid. Well, I can't drink it, so I guess I'll eat it. Oh boy, this is delicious! A brave person that is.
- that's true. But i love it.Jaline
- I feel the same way about lobsters. Like who looked at that and said "Wow! I bet that'd taste good..."TheBlueOne
