if you didn't realize, its too late now,
if you haven't heard of Dmitry Orlov, its time to buy his book "reinventing collapse"
if you haven't heard of his blog, go there and read everything, http://cluborlov.blogspot.com/inform yourself
The Five Stages of Collapse
Stage 1: Financial collapse. Faith in "business as usual" is lost. The future is no longer assumed resemble the past in any way that allows risk to be assessed and financial assets to be guaranteed. Financial institutions become insolvent; savings are wiped out, and access to capital is lost.Stage 2: Commercial collapse. Faith that "the market shall provide" is lost. Money is devalued and/or becomes scarce, commodities are hoarded, import and retail chains break down, and widespread shortages of survival necessities become the norm.
Stage 3: Political collapse. Faith that "the government will take care of you" is lost. As official attempts to mitigate widespread loss of access to commercial sources of survival necessities fail to make a difference, the political establishment loses legitimacy and relevance.
Stage 4: Social collapse. Faith that "your people will take care of you" is lost, as local social institutions, be they charities or other groups that rush in to fill the power vacuum run out of resources or fail through internal conflict.
Stage 5: Cultural collapse. Faith in the goodness of humanity is lost. People lose their capacity for "kindness, generosity, consideration, affection, honesty, hospitality, compassion, charity" (Turnbull, The Mountain People). Families disband and compete as individuals for scarce resources. The new motto becomes "May you die today so that I die tomorrow" (Solzhenitsyn, The Gulag Archipelago). There may even be some cannibalism.
- Stage 6: Internet failure finally occurs, causing people to go outsidein search of a life.Spookytim

I never buy into these doomsday scenarios...they are always riddled with error. They all scream Y2K for me.

Good luck, bro*
I always keep my promises* And I never do things without a reason*
For years, Apple have been trying, and I stress "trying" to the utmost sense of the word, to swindle me into working for one's shady business* I've told them to beat it, for a long time now* Simply because I think that they are disgusting* Nothing short of a useless company that doesn't care about our planet, and is run by a degenerate scumbag prick, that is going to die within the year* When? That's for me to know, and then baste in the glory when said measure is accounted for*
I've never been more thrilled towards spending one's $5,000* 00, in my life*

This is all bullshit.
What's really wrong with this world is someone selling you a house 4x what it's really worth. They have pushed so much shit on you through advertising and lifestyle that it ended blowing up in their face and since no one's buying anymore, now the yuppies are trying to create new bubbles of fear.
Surplus is important because it allows you to re-invest in science and make life easier for you - ok -, but I think banks, insurance and such are being too greedy and their toll is evident across most of the middle-class. They should step down a little in their gains for a while, and let us breathe.

Well go on then 000000. You've convinced me. Fuck off and learn to grow your own food or something - you SURELY must have some better to be doing if you buy all that. This shit you're posting is nothing more than the usual conspiracy crap that gets posted around here.
People have been hailing the end of society for thousands of years, and guess what? It hasn't happened once.
- IF you checked you'll learn that empires disappeared, entire civilisation were cancelled********

I guess the bbc has jumped on the compiraxcy crap,
its weird how the worst the situation is getting, people like you keeps on pulling the conspiracy bs,I guess fack checking leads you nowhere, did you even took 1 min to google some of the claims of that video, are you calling Orlov a nut?
you have the right to express your views, but please fact check before claiming its a conspiracy, actually it is a conspiracy, I don't know about you nor your living status, but for me and hundreds of thousands maybe million of people these last 7 years has been what we dreamed would never happened,
put your thin foil hat on and start thinking/fact checking/ learning before claiming we're all crazy

I hope to god the current consumer 'civilisation' does collapse and, as a nice bonus, I'd quite like a large percentage of the population to disappear. That'd, in a very short time, resolve all the overwhelming problems that we face in the near future.
But, whilst I guess I'd quite like some of what this Orlov says to be true, I can't help but interpret his eloquent rantings as the product of an embittered child of the failed Soviet Bloc. So, whilst what he says does resonate, it has to be taken entirely in that vein and, as moth says, it doesn't presage the utter collapse of all human civilisation. Just the dead-heading of the inefficient, greedy ends we've come to.
