Not sure if anyones ever asked this before but whats a good working size for designing web concepts in photoshop? 800px x 600px is so old school I know, so whats the standard now?

most peeps design with a 1024x768 monitor in mind (lappy size ish)
I tend not to make mine wider than 950 with the "fold" at about 550

I think as long as its no wider than 1000px thats fine.

Next one up - 1024 x 768, I guess? In that though, I'd be quite strict with the fold on the vertical, as even if machines are capable of handling 1280x1024, there are a heckload of laptops out there (this one included) that are 800 deep

how about designing it so that it can adjust to any monitor size (aka liquid layout)? This way you can use any comp size in PS but just make sure the design concept is able to move around and adjust itself according to the monitor size.
- great for e commerce, not so much for things where more control is required visualykelpie
- I'd even say it was bad for blogs as you have no ultimate control of line length on articles.kelpie
- You can invoke max-lengths though to prevent word trail, can't you? *spot who's only made one site in 2 years*detritus
