lomography is a scam
- 23kon0
Lomography isnt a scam, it's a business - a business with an exceptional marketing plan.
I got myself an LC-A from ebay last year and ive got it to thank for rekindling my love for photography again.
After slowly falling out of love with photography when digital cameras started to come about i found myself using my cameras less and less. The LC-A changed that and changed the way i shot photos.
I've now went out and bought a new digital and have been shooting with it the same way id shoot with my LC-A and im loving the results.- by scam i really mean that the markup on "their" cameras are out of control.OnesandZeros
- do you not work for profit?23kon

I dunno, those Threadless dudes made 30 million last year in sales, looks like they are the ones scamming...

For a relatively cheap camera, the LC-A has produced some really good shots for me. There's something about it's lens I love.
- moth0
and by cheap, i mean cheap parts.
- 23kon0
same here moth, its an amazing lens.
made even more amazing with the wide angle attachment!!

lomo point & shoot = piece o shitte
- PonyBoy0
scamming?
more power to both companies for staying in business, making money... paying taxes and keeping people employed... AND giving us solid products to boot.
Why do some of you hate on success like that? I never understood this anger toward the 'sell out' mentality - everyday you goto work you 'sell out'... :)
My guess is the hate toward success comes from wanting to be miserable all the time... ?
- 23kon0
ponyboy
i wouldnt go so far as to say the products were solid lol

The beauty of lomography (to me at least) is that the final outcome is always unpredictable... yet still lovely...
... they're not marketed as hi-end / hi-res perfect sharp image-makers!! They're 'known' for their quality being less-than-perfect (at least in my mind - every 'photographer' I've know has always known their Lomo wasn't going to produce a perfect 'stock' image)... i don't know if I'm making any sense here...

sorry! I wasn't trying to offend anyone with my opinion. I've been into Lomography for about 8/9 years now, I have many "lomo" cameras & accessories, so i feel like i can make observations about their brand. However, I don't feel the need to go in depth on all the intricacies revolving around my blanketed opinion.

- i had 3 of those at one pointsikma
- Lomo LCA is cheap Cosina CX2 is a cheap Minox 35neverblink
- cool built-in ring flashMimio
- The minox 35s aren't any more expensive than lc-a's today.
Also that is the selenium light meter, not a flash ringpom
- omgitsacamera0
I roll holga.
I love the unpredictable light leaks and the vignetting .
- pom0
Fleh.
The lc-a / holga hype is weird because they sometimes produce cool images but seriously paying 200 or whatever for the lc-a is absurd. If you want a camera that is purposely shitty just buy any point and shoot and throw it against a wall.
The Holga is pointless to me. Why would you upgrade to MF only to want purposely lower quality images?
- Also lol why is their shitty chinese TLR $200+ ? Arg.pom
