here's a link to a blank template for 1.5Basically, you'll build your template how you like, and cut/paste the php snippets (i.e. header, footer, left column, right column, maincontent) where they should appear in your template.
Then you have to fill out the xml sheet to indicate to joomla all the images/paths used and the details of your template
What I did was copied the folder of one of the original templates, and started the index page and css from scratch. You'll learn as you go. Took me a bit to grasp, but eventually it'll make sense.
