Does anyone know of a cheap way to get the CS3 Design Premium package? I heard of some program where if you use it at work, you can get a personal copy for cheaper or something? Any clues?

if you have a valid work license you can install a copy on one home machine.

^ what johndiggity said. The license agreement for CS3 states that it can be installed on 2 machines provided they are never used at the same time. So work + home or laptop is 100% legit.
You just have to get your employer to release the discs to you.

wasn't CS2 5 machines? I could've sworn it was...
if you want to venture into the realm of torrents, there's always another way.

while we're on the topic of obtaining professional tools on the cheap .. I am going home for 10 days to help my sister with her wedding but I don't want to have such a lull in my freelance so I'm considering buying a regular macbook. Are they well enough equipped to handle print work? or should I pay the extra for the pro?
- okay I'll start my own thread then_salisae_
- I'll share the load, no charge.JackRyan
- yes...I believe they are.
I've had the regular Macbook for serveral years now...works like a charm.marychain - I have a g4 ibook with 1.5gb ram which I use to work in similar situations to your own, it works a charm. Macbook with 1gb+ ram will be fineavolve

this really ends up being more expensive in the end, but if you are a student and buy a new apple computer you can get design premium for, i think, $399.

$869. No joke. Kona and mg33 approved. Full software, discs, serial number, free gift for registering with Adobe. The real deal. Get it and get it over with.

do the academic versions sold at baseline.com come with full support from adobe?
- Yes.mg33
- have you actually called support on this copy, and they was it positive?barbtastic
- No, I've never called Adobe support for anything. But the software is fully registered.mg33

i have been sharing a copy of cs3 with another "computer", and it's time i get my own, esp since the copy we have been using won't install on my laptop. i will prob need to be able to call adobe and harass them if my own copy does the same

well, if you qualify for the academic price, journeyed.com has the design premium suite for $600:

the two machine thing is a great policy... very friendly.

i don't qualify for the academic price, but places like baselinesoftware.com claim it's still perfectly legal. BAH.
i'm just gonna drop the 1800 at adobe and try not to think about it.

Sometimes I really wonder how many people actually bought Photoshop for home use? 1? 2? Two is probably it.
