What do I have to do to prevent Flash from mangling my sound objects into a brain-shattering, squealing horror?
They're fine when I test them from the library or from outside of Flash, but after publishing them in Flash, I get problems inconsistently.

Sound prefs in publish settings?

I've played with those. I can't even tell if that helped. There doesn't seem to be much pattern to when it happens. If I update the sound symbol in the library even though I didn't change the file it seems to help for a while. Restarting Flash might help. I don't know, really. I'm guessing at this point.

Can you post one of the problem swfs so we can see/hear what the problem is?
Right now, you're like the old lady who goes to the Doctor and says, "it hurts."
Hurts what? Hurts when? How often?

Make sure you aren't converting mono to stereo and vice-versa. It's in Flash export prefs.

are you importing mp3s into flash? flash doesn't like that. import wavs and let flash convert to mp3.

importing mp3's into flash is the worst !! if you have vocals, it sounds like they have a huge lisp! haha

shut down flash... re-open your file and re-publish.
it is a bug and happens at random/
