I heard recently from someone that knows what theyr'e talking about when they say that Google Rooms is not an April Fools joke (http://blogoscoped.com/archive...
Google will be unveiling a plug-in to virtually browse a site in 3D space, see other users that are currently on pages of the site in different rooms and talk with webmasters and salespersons for help.
Pretty crazy, eh?
Also, Apple just registered a bunch of patents on virtual 3D worlds a la Second Life, so they can bring the iTunes Store and other products to a virtual/3D showroom...

Is that a Behind the Mind's Eye screenshot? Remember when that stuff was groundbreaking?
Anyway, it's weird. I just had a convo with a friend about how Google is docile and charitable now...she's worried that they'll keep growing and the current board will retire and they'll become less objective and humanitarian overtime, and more controlling and limiting. She said if Google launches nation-(world-?)wide Wifi for free, they have the power to limit/change content. And while this goes against their entire mission, absolute power corrupts, absolutely.
