Oh how frustrating it can be. All I can come up with as a solution is saave, save, SAVE.

Fuck pre-colombian software. Too heavy.

Maya is also intended for an expansive workflow, like having a few guys on modeling, a few on rigging, etc all the way down the line. Your system setup may be the reason it keeps crashing out.

In my experience it tends to work better on the PC

cinema 4D is soooooooooooo much easier! i know it's not as powerful but do you really need all those features?

Im teaching myself the basics at school in a 3D Imaging course, the program is so intense it blows my mind, not to mention the interface is fuckked. I give anybody who can use it well so much credit. I also figured out why it was crashing on my so often, Illustrator files can not be imported with a template layer. Live and learn, Im going to try out Cinema 4D while I still have my education discount.

I liked lightwave from a interface standpoint. It's been about a year since I touched it though. I recommend it highly if you're not going to animate (all I did was model). My 2..
