Quark had the market cornered and then fell asleep at the wheel. Doesn't hurt that InDesign is nearly free if you need Photoshop anyway. They should redesign QBN in Quark.

i can't believe you chumps. Indesign is a piece of crap. Quark has issues too, don't get me wrong, and clap clap, indesign has a features that quark doesn't, but damn, indesign blows. I'd rather use pagemaker.
- I'm guessing that you are in your 40s, yes?mg33
- quark is like power point, clunky and dunky********
- are you serious? Indesign is essentially bundled software, and it behaves like it. Anybody that designs a bit of DTP software that handles text like illustrator should have their computers confiscated. I could go on, but I don't think you pro-indesigners can see past the end of your bank accounts.larchie
- and no, only 30. I just can't stand indesign...larchie
- I think you should leave.pantone

Competition is good. I have to say there's a few things Adobe could fix. First of all being able to rotate the canvas with a tool at will would be cool. Painter's had that for years. Second, Adobe Acrobat sucks ass. I've seen free software with a better quality display for resized images no matter what the increment. I haven't used Premiere much but the interface is pretty confusing with alot of pointless quirks, there's alot they could fix there too.

I used quark a couple times. It really is a piece of shit. It's ungainly and chinsy at the same time.

I love this response in the message board replies to the link I provided:
"...Moreover, their claims of no longer needing photoshop are laughable. The ability to scale, rotate and crop? Whoopdiedoo, you could do that in previous versions. Certainly not in an intuitive way, but that's hardly a NEW feature. Furthermore, if it were, it's embarrassing enough to keep out of a press release."

You know how fucking old I am?
I'm so old, I remember when Quark was the absolute shit! I remember when it was so many heads and shoulders above everything else out there, it was like 3000 Kareem Abdul-Jabbars towering over an ocean of Herve Villechaizes!!
In its time, Quark was the shit! The Bridget Bardot of layout programs! The Ne Plus Ultra of keylining!
How the mighty have been laid low by the march of time!
So, if you own Google stock about now, think about that a moment!

Ok, let’s face facts here. They’re both crap programs. Quark lost it when it decided to put in some bells and whistles. InDesign never really had it. You still can’t set type easily on it. It’s because Adobe is lazy, and built it from the ashes of PageMaker (which was absolute crap). In my humble opinion, they both need to get their respective heads out of the sand and build some programs worthy of arguing about.
