This is the second Sunday I've been flipping through channels on TV and found this Heads Up poker tournament. It's on NBC.
Man, whatever "fashion" these guys ever had has had the life sucked out of it by advertising. They may as well be wearing Nascar garb now. There are guys with logos and advertising on cowboy hats for Christ's sake! Even Doyle Brunson - a legend of some kind in poker - was sitting there last week with some crap on his shirt and cowboy hat. And funny thing is, almost all of them are advertising for something called Full Tilt Poker:
I don't play poker and make a concerted effort to never do so, but have watched these shows here and there. It's just hilarious how any self-respect these guys had is thrown in the shitter for the sake of advertising the same thing as everyone else.

How much you payin' today? LOL I heard you shut down three bars in Wrigleyville last night. Must have been the sirens I heard last night!

I liked it a bit after learning how to play, but I only watch it when there is absolutely nothing else on, and that's rare. As for the ads, you could say the same thing about a lot of TV now.

in high school my friends and i played texas hold 'em all the time. before the casinos turned 21 and up my friend won 2000 dollars at some tourney. old men were pissed.

Umm I watch it every weekend. Don't be angry that it's televised just because you aren't very good at it and probably get pushed around at the tables like a 12 year old girl.
In fact, I won about $35,000 last month in a No Limit Hold Em tournament down in Atlantic City.

- must have missed where I said "i don't play it." it's interesting to watch, just the logos are awful.mg33

I admit, whenever there's a new WSOP on I watch it to see how Negreanu's doing. The patches and stuff are pretty stupid but it's no different from any other televised event...

Pokers an awesome game. It's a great excuses to get shit faced with your friends. But the vibe and attitude on that show is depressing. Single dudes wearing mirrored glasses sitting at a table saying nothing for 10 hours. It's plain creepy. I love the way they always fill the spotlight table with women.

Uhm ... I don't think any poker player (especially before the big hold 'em explosion like three years ago) had any sense of "fashion", haha.

Full Tilt poker is an online poker service, the players who wear the logo are the Pros who are on their Pro Team. All the big online poker rooms have sponsored pros.
I play maybe 5-10 tournaments a week, and usually make a nice little profit out of it. Actually i think i have payed my last 3 months rent all out of poker winnings. Since Holdem took off a while back, there has been a lot of easy money to be made in certain poker rooms.

poker bores the shit out of me. I'm surrounded by it daily and have no interest in participating, so I really don't understand watching it on TV... hell, I'd rather watch golf
