Witt, you clearly lack a fundamental understanding of supply and demand. banks don't determine housing price, the free markets do. yes, the FREE markets. not your interpretation of "free money" (somehow nationalizing banks?).
this is just a bunch of ad lazarum tactics and appealing to fear. i'm outtie for tonight.

Don't tell me what I lack. Think about the stupid system you're defending and tell your boss what he's lacking. (I take it you're a pawn?)

if you think that banks determine housing prices, then you do lack it, witt. it's as simple as that. now i dont have more time to discuss this tonight.
nice touch with the "pawn" insult though.
- sorry about the pawn thing. glad you reacted. Now don't tell me banks have no influence in the house mrkt.********
- coz they fucking do and you know it.********

banks have access to irs records, lying on an app is out the window if you check the irs records. you have to give your irs records to get a home loan. but the lender isnt at fault. you are a fucking idiot if you believe what you say.
- crickets again bitch, you can't fucking refute it.mrdobolina

It's not like that. You hear a bank should be nationalised and you start thinking about mao-tse-tung. NO. Banks should be nationalised (only banks) to ensure loans from strating couples, and define house prices (along with a landscape policy). I don't really care about what happens next. The State has 2 errands: ensure landscape bliss, and clean up everybody's mess. That's it. The rest are benefits you should work for.

calling the opposition "socialist" is a last ditch effort for a republican losing in an argument. shit has been this way since the 20's.

Well US and European policies have distinct aims, and philosophical fundamentals (which derive in poor politics sometimes) if you wish. But that's not a reason for us for not discussing it. Believe it or not, the American democracy concept is highly regarded in Europe, but that doesn't mean it is an absolute value. There's odd bits and ends that don't match, and only a fool would take any formulae for granted. Grow up, Bryce - take the world as a changing entity and not so much as a one-way route. Not every single idea adapts to everybody on Earth just because it looks good to you. Keep this in mind, and farewell.

Now more than ever we should appreciate how truly meritocratic and just capitalism really is.

is the reason the country is in the mess it is in. I trip on so called "capitalists" I mean when you put money first above all, what do you think is going to happen? the thirst for more, and more ultimately causes enron like symptoms where you then have to lie just to seem like your on point, or you have to cut costs, use cheaper quality, and put peoples health in jeopardy, but hey dont let me stand in the way of you getting another buck....
- Corporation shareholder goals (while flawed) do not constitute Capitalism. You're confusing the two.tommyo

Money is the ultimate motivator, whether you might consider it good or bad. As a wise man once said, greed is good. Greed works.

Recent problems with the banking system weren't caused by free market capitalism, but by the creeping lack of it.

if the free market isn't based on anarcho-capitalist principles then it isn't a free market.

But to summarize, the libertarian apologetics fall wildly short of providing any convincing explanation for what went wrong. The argument as a whole is reminiscent of wearying dorm-room debates that took place circa 1989 about whether the fall of the Soviet bloc demonstrated the failure of communism. Academic Marxists were never going to be convinced that anything that happened in the real world could invalidate their belief system. Utopians of the right, libertarians are just as convinced that their ideas have yet to be tried, and that they would work beautifully if we could only just have a do-over of human history. Like all true ideologues, they find a way to interpret mounting evidence of error as proof that they were right all along.

haha you're insane man. All you spew are stereotypes and generalities. So the Fed pumping out money to cover all costs has nothing to do with it? The governments meddling in the markets by raising and lowering interest rates to prop up a failing economy has nothing to do with it? Government forcing banks into risky loans, nope, not important eh?
