Multi-language site

  Does anybody have any experience in building sites in multiple languages? We've done a few in Flash that just used separate XML files but I'm building a little PHP framework and need to decide on a standard before I get too far along.

  I don't want to duplicate the site's pages themselves so the way I see it I either need to pull the content in from a database or from flat files (includes, XML, or whatever). I've been doing some reading but haven't seen a compelling argument either way.

  I use open source software, such as Joomla, theres a very good component called Joomfish, perhaps you can see how that was built.
