"but I need money to start doing some stuff."
sounds like a winning plan to me... can't see a bank having much of a problem with that.

the hardest part is the application with all its fancy legal jargon, get an CPA to look at the loan app with you or a Lawyer , or you can go to the SBA and they can also help you fill it out , that and you must have a business plan , if you have some proof of the pudding like invoices or anything that shows you are making money in the industry you want in on , that is a plus

how about one of those business credit cards?
- Aye - it's a risk, but if you're sure it'll work. the [multiple] CC route isn't the worst option.detritus

Business plan, business plan, business plan.
Talk to everyone you've ever known who's started up a business, pick their brains and spend as long as you can setting this out correctly - check it back with these people - go to any monied friends or relatives you have and show it to them - if it wins them over, then you'll likely have no problem with the bank.
If not, and especially in during this credit crunch, you'll be laughed out of site - especially if the sum is "but I need money to start doing some stuff" :)

can you get a startup loan from anywhere you dont have to pay back?
in scotland you can get £1000 that you dont have to pay back if you want to start up a new business. i did. free grand - not bad likes!
you do have to supply them with a decent business plan though.
