Sending Samples

I've been asked to send over some samples of my work or my book for an initial phone interview overseas. The employer has already seen my website so knows what my work is like.
Has anyone ever deal with a situation like this? What did you send over? I was considering sending my full book but then thought that only a few printed samples would do it. Some people at work are saying I should design some sort of package to send over.
I'm stuck for what to do and want to send them something asap.

I think on your website is enough work.

I had 4 copies of my old book that'd I'd send over...
But yeah, I made the book specifically for these reasons and it took me well over 200 hrs to do the design, layout and text...
Prob not the immediate solution you were looking for...

Must've been nice though!5timuli - yeah was good, but no real way to update it easily so it dated after about 1.5 years...neue75_bold

I've already spoken to the employer and we agreed that I should send 'my book' or 'some samples' over that we can go through together over the phone. He even said if it goes well I'd fly over as a formality to be offered the job.
I'm just not sure if I should send some 11x14 sheets or just physical samples. I don't want to come across as some sort of lazy prick but I also don't want to lose samples as I only have on copy of some of them.

Personally, I'd quickly make a .pdf presentation of your work, so you can easily present it over the phone, rather than have him look through your website and risk having him jumping all over the place...
I wouldn't send my portfolio if it contains printed samples and risk having something happen to it...

seems you should send actual samples and not prints since he could essentially scroll through your site to discuss with you. i'd package them extra carefully and make very clear that they are precious and must be returned. i can understand the risky feeling of doing it though.
- or do what neue says. i'm lost for answers on this topic._salisae_

Maybe the trick is to design a sophisticated solution to this problem.

I maybe have 12-16 hours max to work on this. But first I need to work out what to do. Stressssssssss...

Boobs you sound some people I've met in marketing lol.
Designer: What should I do?
Marketing Person: Design a sophisticated solution to the problem.
Designer: No but seriously. What should I do?
Marketing Person: Design a sophisticated solution to the problem.
Designer: Thanks for nothing.

Since it's a phone interview, mybe I should send over some physical samples then design my portfolio and put a PDF online for him to download and print? Does that make me sound cheap and/or lazy? It would save me a fortune and be much faster than sending the folio over.

- Are you sending the rubber thumb along too?boobs
- Looks good to me. I had a similar issue, and I just printed up some small/cheap books as a leave behind for in-person interviews.JackRyan

- I thought about it but I might just send these printed sheets.5timuli
- That's probably just as good. Nobody even looked at my leave behinds. Everyone has laptops now it seems.JackRyan
