So do hockey players live somewhere in that picture? I'm asking b/c usually there is a specific area that they live in, most likely around the arena.
- LOLmadirish
- I know, I seem very stalkerish :)Jaline
- no, not that. you really think there is a 'specific area they live in"??? lol- that rules.madirish
- hahaha!********
- I think I know what Jaline is getting at considering most of them are foreign born and would want to stick with people they know.********
- they know. I.E. each other.********

Pittsburgh is nice. I have lived here for the past few years...
Good sides: Cost of living is very cheap. There is a decent art and music scene. The people here aren't the big city types, at least not that I have noticed.
Bad sides: As for cleanliness it was just voted the most polluted city in America for particle pollution. And the city is pretty much broke so don't expect clean, well taken care of streets (i.e. lots of potholes and litter).
Overall Pittsburgh is nice. Though, personally, I am waiting to see how the Penguins do this year before I decide to stick around any longer.
Go Pens!

Not sure where the hockey players live per se, haha.
There is a small island about 15 streets down from me that houses a lot of the super rich. Then there are lofts downtown that some athletes live at. I think a lot actually live a bit outside of Pittsburgh in one of the rich community type deals to be honest.
A few football players live in my building actually. Nothing funnier than going, "Hey can you hold the elevator please?" To someone who makes millions of dollars and then asking if they could hit four for me as my hands are full with cases of booze, haha.

And now you know why I vomited profusely when I actually breathed clean air at the Continental Divide...

madirish, the Sens actually do generally live in one area, near the arena. It just so happens that many large houses are around the arena. I live about 10-15 min. away. I'm sure some of them live downtown, but for some reason our arena is not downtown (which some people don't like). It's actually in the suburbs, on the other side of the city.
- I hate that shit. Even our new stadiums have stuff around them now and will be encompassed with new city stuff in like 5-10 years.********
- stuff in like 5-10 years. That's my guess. I'm trying to get a place to live (own) closer to them actually.********
- yeah, I can see why it would be better downtown, but for once there is something NOT downtown that is important.Jaline

Pittsburgh is great. Been here on and off most of my life.
The music scene is "eh" when it comes to bands/ groups etc that you
want to see. Art is great here. Homeless population? man we got nothing on most other cities. Not that many young people- most come here for school as we have like 4 major universities every 2 miles. Fat people- yes. There is a lot of perogie and hoagie eating happening here...BUT you don't have to look that hard for good eats. That's one thing about PGH that I love the food and quality of is really good, you just need to search. We are a city in the valley forest.
We drink alot
lots of cool bridges and older architecture
dancing flavorful
great city to get in shape if you bike- lots of hills and parks
if your an urban explorer, you will have fun here- lots of train tunnels, river banks to drink at, abandoned steel mills (not so many these days tho)
pretty much anyone you talk to that is a native always sounds like they are a comedian due to our hilarious accent
(I really don't have one as I am told)Pittsburgh has really done a great job of housecleaning, the city is far cleaner from when I moved here in 97
We finally have a Whole Foods AND a Trader Joes
vegan friendly, bigtime
8 dudes to every lady (and men wonder why women here have attitudes)
sandwiches with french fries and cole slaw ON THEM
The busway
A building downtown that looks like the headquarters of an evil genius (Inspector Gadget was filmed there lol)
more and more movies are being shot here-just last friday there was
a caravan of Dreamworks trucks all over Butler street in LawrencevilleYou can buy a house for 100K that has more than 2 floors and two bathrooms and kickass woodwork
So there's a mix of some pros and a few cons.
I didn't even have to touch how kickass our sports are either

Mango do you want to be on my kickball team? I have to get the team ready by the 17th - I think it's like $55 a person.
It'd be at Armstrong Park on like ... 13th Street in South Side? Probably on Tuesday or Wednesday early evenings.
- Tegan ... I don't know you but I don't want you to feel excluded. Just know I'm very competitive if you want to play.********

Man, I would LOVE to play kickball. I don't think I can though, schedule is too nuts. I am not allowed to fun anymore except for heavy drinking at home when the wife is not loooooking
- ********0
S'all good. Most of my jerk friends thought it was a great idea, but then aren't coming through so I think I'm going to actually play with people I don't know. Which they are in for quite the rude awakening when I randomly show up and start yelling at them for not hustling to first, or diving for a ball, or being sober.
- TeganTorch0
haha, I would also love to but a.) I am not athletically inclined and b.) I have no extra time/money...
But the real question here is... are there free T-shirts involved?
- ********0
Free T-Shirts but you have to pay like $55 for the PSL to run the shit. So not really. Do you know any girl friends who would want to play?
I'm having trouble coming up with 4 girls who are hot enough for me to want to see week in and week out that don't want me dead. And even if they wanted me dead none that can play kickball at a level I want them to.
Basically they just have to be hot and not mind that the team name is probably going to be one of the following:
Short Bus Rapists.
Not Your Friends, Guy.
Fuck You, Candy.
Rod Torfulson's Armada Featuring Herman Menderchuk.
King Alcohol and His Prime Ministers.- And I can't know them probably. Because to know me is to hate me.********

I gotta visit this city. is there a time when it's football season and it's NOT snowing?
- TeganTorch0
haha, I will see what I can dig up, flavorful.
Let me know when your practice is. Maybe I will stop down to cheer you on... but only if your team name is not Short Bus Rapists.
- Helen Keller's Worst Nitemare seems to be the frontrunner, haha.********

Point 5, the best games are when it's snowing!!! But yes, usually from august thru december...sometimes.
Flav, those names are ot of control lol. My team would be one of the following:
Steel City Ball Punchers
PGH Ball Beavers (because we have rivers)
Drunken Dodge Monks
Lawrenceville Lunchers- Can we change the first one to:
STEEL CITY CHRIST PUNCHERS
?********
- Can we change the first one to:
- ********0
Actually to be honest it usually doesn't start snowing until January anymore (with some in December).
You got a place to crash within walking distance from the stadiums, haha. I have a slew of jerk friends who are deciding on which games to come up for as Pittsburgh has a pretty dope home schedule:
Week 01 (SUN SEP 07, 2008): vs. Houston Texans
Week 04 (MON SEP 29, 2008): vs. Baltimore Ravens
Week 08 (SUN OCT 26, 2008): vs. New York Giants
Week 10 (SUN NOV 09, 2008): vs. Indianapolis Colts
Week 11 (SUN NOV 16, 2008): vs. San Diego Chargers
Week 12 (THU NOV 20, 2008): vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Week 14 (SUN DEC 07, 2008): vs. Dallas Cowboys
Week 17 (SUN DEC 28, 2008): vs. Cleveland Browns- Tough-ass schedule this year.blaw
- Yea incredibly tough. 8-8 probably wins the division, haha.********
