Another example of a site that uses a short audio clip (horse) and very subtle audio loop...something like this isn't as annoying as like some loud music track going on in the background...in this case, I think it adds to the site...
Example of a great site that uses audio that ends up making the site annoying and makes me struggle to find the mute button (Can you find it?) (I may get bashed for this one, I know I know.) Wait for music to load then...teh Rave comes on and the background turns into a disco. If they threw in some interactive glowsticks then maybe it wouldn't be so bad. Awesome site tho.

it's the equivalent of the college student who turns his speakers to the windows and blasts his music over "the quad"... gradually, over the years, as you stop posting in "what are you listening to" threads and resign from last.fm, it dawns on you that no matter how fascinating you find it, nobody else gives a shit what music you listen to

After thinking about this for a minute, wouldn't it be nice if browsers had their own mute toggle button? That way anyone could put music on their site and know that only people with sound enabled will hear it. That would save the visual clutter of a big fat mute button as well as the annoyance of people [like me] who listen to music while browsing and don't wish to be interrupted.
