So in indesign, when you draw a box, put type in it then scale it, it gives you the original size, then the enlarged size in parentheses ... for example 12pt (13.89 pt). In CS2 there was a 'scale text and attributes' in the flyout to make sure you're playing with the new size, not something based on how much it was enlarged/shrunk. Where is it in CS3? It's not where it used to be.

a little more... so my % size for the text box says 108%, but changing that to 100% reduces the font to say 10.107 pt (11.01 pt), so its close to the right size, but still not straight up.

thanks lajj, but that thread didn't have the answer

in preferences > general, check "Adjust Scaling Percentage"
this will give you the original and actual in parens. changing it will always be relative to the original size.in the transform panel, select "Redefine Scaling as 100%" to convert it to the actual size, so it's no longer relative to the original size.
does that make sense?
- this will only apply to transformations you make after changing the prefacescence
