truly insane would be the worst in my opinion. being blind, deaf or disfigured would limit your life but not completely. if you went totally insane, your life would be mostly internal and probably full of torment.

i have known folks blind, deaf, and disfigured (not same for one, different folks) and they all had fairly full, happy lives.
