Whenever you're back here... what do you reckon to the old GTA V6? I'm still deciding what to get and I had no idea these things came in so cheep. I quite the look and I never see them on the road which is a bonus and a warning all at once probably...

Yeah, maintenance and repair is my only concern. I'm guessing that might be why such a sterling machine is going so cheap.

Datsun 240 and 280s...
Love them, I really really do. They're beautiful cars, the design is second to none... but they are from the era where Japanese cars looked great, were incredibly reliable, but in any kind of collision whatsoever they crumpled like kitkat foil.
They problem with that is that in a minor, low impact collission you're looking at getting new panels hand made and any kind of three quarter or side collision will warp the chassis.
On the other end of the scale, hit anything in one of these with a combined impact speed of 40+mph and you'll be skewered through the chest on the steering post, amputated below the knee by the baulk, and probably dead too.
That's my one big problem with old old cars, because I need to be able to put my daughter in the car without feeling like I'm putting her life at risk. If I was young free and single I'd not be thinking along these lines, but the lack of any kind of safety features makes an old datsun impractical.

Ah! The FIAT Dino...
Chossy, I've sat in that car. Its just round the corner from my house. The bloke who's selling it has it out every weekend polished up looking for a happy customer. Its a beauty in real life, totally stunning and in amazingly good nick too.

If you have to put your child in the car and are worried about safety get a renault megane, I'll never speak to you again but at least your child will be safe. So go ahead put your children and family before friends go ahead fucking forget about me and all the the things you've said, fuck you spooky, fuck you allot.
ps I am now polishing bits of my engine bay and it's hurting my fingers, not like you'd care you monster.

Chossy, What I'm looking for is a ME car. A car for me. My missus is a car wuss, she wont drive anything fast or big or with small windows and mirrors, so anything desirable is out of the question for our fambly car. We've got a fucking Suzuki Swift ffs because she chose it when our daughter was born as a car she would feel safe and comfortable driving. Prior to that I was always in an Alfa but she couldn't even drive those becuase the lack of visibility freaked her out.
So I need to buy a car for me now she's happy with her Swift. Soemthing fast, lairy, growly with a bit of eye value.... But something that can still used by the fambly for long drives on the weekend. It really needs to have some modern safety features for the little un and also be relatively easy to repair and get parts for... that's why I like the FTO in principle... its a modern car, but what worries me HUGELY about the FTO is that I suspect they're often driven to fuck by careless people who can't drive and do so at too high revs and clutch burning gear work, so could be a nightmare to maintain.

Thats the chance you take spooky, faint heart ne'r won fair maid, meaning dinae be a pussy and just buy the car you want, look you check it over, you do some research, you ask people in the know about things then you buy or you repeat the process with a different car, buy from a trader get a warranty. The FTO has a drivers airbag and thats it, mine doesn't have one as I put a fancy steering wheel on it. You shouldn't really be looking to buy a sports car if your concern is family. Get a tricked out accord your lady will like it and it has great visibility and she'll never drive it fast enough for her to crap it.
