According to Terry Wogan on Radio2 this morning, this year's tickets for the Galstonbury festival have failed to sell out.
That's not "Failed to sell out in a mad rush as usual"
its
"Failed, completely, to sell out"
If that's not true, blame Radio2, but that's what they said.

Everyone's blaming Jay Z.

I blame:
• Ridiculously high ticket prices
• Mud, and of course
• Hip-hop- +2. and the rise of euro festivals in better climatesmaximillion_
- How mush are the ticket pricesroundabout
- £160maximillion_

Poor Hip Hop artists get the blame for everything. Ice T got the rap (THE RAP! HA!) for the LA riots, now JayZ is to blame for the fact that Glastonbury has mutated beyond all recognition from an anitestablishmentarianist freakfest into a huge, health&Saftey approved walk-in advertisement for Vodafone and the current Universal artists roster.
- "antiestablishment" would do, I didn't know where to stop the word nicely.Spookytim

I blame Carling Black Label and the wilful homogeneity of the UK's pathetic youth.

I think I am going to blame the passing of time, and all of its sickening crimes (Thanks Morrisey). Its had a good run but you can't be relevant forever.

I went 4 years on the trot and decided to do something different this year. That and the mud factor played a role in my decision making. Can anyone recommend a festival in the UK?

Sorry - All festivals and music movements in the UK have been sold to the highest bidder.

I don't think it's Hip Hop full stop, I think it's the fact it's mediocre chart hip hop. I've been to plenty of festivals where there have been hip hop (admittedly not headliners) and if the artist has been good (Wu Tang, Roots Manuva and so on) then a good time was had by all.
I think the incredible conditions last year have played a bigger part - I've been going to Glastonbury for 13 years now and last year made me not want to go this year. It was so bad in the mud.

If you want to stay away from the mud –
http://www.primaverasound.com/- although you'll have to deal with spaniards, personally, I'd go with the mud...neue75_bold
- "human mud"neue75_bold
- Did you write 'human mud' before I did? Did I subconsciously extract that mote from an unread note?detritus
- without a time-stamp, we'll never know...neue75_bold
- I think I feel sick.detritus

If it were just mud, it really wouldn't bother me.
But it's a vile, human mud. Mud mixed with the faeces, piss, sweat and bile of a 100,000 other fucking filthy humans, all traipsing around stupidly - eating, drinking and shitting their way to their individual states of contentment.

I've only been once (in '05) and it was great fun, but it's definitely overrated.

Blame Bestival.
- sammy20010
Bestival is supposed to be alright - more like the old glastonbury.
I'd love to go to benicassim one year
- Wolfboy0
My missus has been to Benicassim and said it was great. Really nice atmosphere and so on. She went the last time there was no Glastonbury so it was full of Brits.
I think it would be a bit hot for me, I'm not a sun lover.
